The Central Coast is home to one of Australia’s largest nations of First Peoples, the Darkinjung, and the fastest growing Indigenous community in Australia.
It has been involved in developing Empowered Communities (EC) and in implementing NSW’s Local Decision Making Framework (LDM). An alliance of local Indigenous organisations has led that work, establishing Barang to guide and coordinate its activity. Barang embodies EC’s philosophy of empowering individuals, families and communities to create better lives for themselves.
We seek to unite and give a voice to Indigenous communities on the Central Coast and believe in Indigenous-led responsibility, collaboration, innovation, best-practice and acknowledging the cultural authority of our community.
